STORTEC was initially contracted to deliver the Detention Tank and base. During the early phases of the project, we identified several unforeseen challenges within the broader scope that threatened the ability to meet the regulatory deadline. Our strong working relationship with the United Utilities Project Team enabled us to collaborate effectively with the main contractor to develop a tailored solution for Winsford WwTW.

This resulted in STORTEC’s scope being expanded at short notice to include the design and delivery of groundworks, piling, construction of a temporary road & ULTRASTORE® Detention Tank walls.

Sustainability – The system has a much lower Carbon Footprint than both traditional coated steel and concrete tank alternatives.

Resilience – The ULTRASTORE® Tank system offers a minimum 10 year longer service life then any coated steel tank system on the market. The design life matches that of standard concrete tanks, whilst providing superior corrosion resistance and durability.

Excellent Corrosion Protection – Unlike coated tanks where coatings wear down over the time and their corrosion resistance diminishes, the ULTRASTORE® system (Stainless Steel panels and components) maintains its high corrosion resistance without the need to recoat or any other maintenance activities.

Environmentally Friendly – The whole product is 100% recyclable without any dilution of its properties.

Strength – The system is based around the use of Duplex Stainless-Steel Grades, which have the properties of high mechanical strength.

CAPEX – The ULTRASTORE® Tank system does not just provide value from a TOTEX viewpoint but, in fact due to a range of factors (economies due scale, single manufacturing process, avoidance of mark up upon mark up etc.), the ULTRASTORE® product is very competitive when compared to traditional coating tanks.

• Ground works including pile layout completed in just 4 days.
• Mobilised on site with two weeks’ notice.
• Within the first week on site we removed 850T dirt, constructed an access road and constructed a pile mat consisting of 630t of stone.
• Our inhouse model allowed for different activities to be sequenced to reduce the overall project timeline.
• 52 piles installed in 2 days.
• The tank base consisting of 28 tonnes of loose bar constructed and poured in 7 days start to finish.
• The ULTRASTORE® tank manufacturing programme accelerated, meaning it was delivered the day after the base shutters were struck.
• The ULTRASTORE® Tank manufactured in only five weeks and erected less than five days on site.
