GLASS COATED STEEL

GLASS COATED STEEL Tank System

Glass Coated Steel is a proven technology that has existed since the 1930s. Glass-coated steel tanks is the industry term for enamelling technology. The principle behind this technology combines the tensile strength of steel with the corrosion resistance of Glass. Glass Coated Steel Tanks offer a long asset life with low maintenance costs.

Stortec Management has close to 40 years of experience with this technology, from a range of manufacturers around the world. It is this experience combined with our independent status that makes our offering unique. The systems we offer are based on an innovative approach to solving some of the inherent challenges when manufacturing Glass Coated Steel Tanks. These include but are not limited to, stronger grade of steel for the base material, unique bolting system/arrangement and edge protection.

Bolt System

The GCS system that STORTEC employs, utilises finless bolts. These have been specifically designed with no holding edges, as not to damage the tank coating when they are being tightened.

Mechanical Seal

STORTEC’s GCS system incorporates a centre point plate at the panel connection location. This ensures a mechanical seal, therefore removing the reliance on sealant for the tank system to be water tight.

Advantages

Enamel protection - Between each plate, we incorporate a synthetic interlayer design to ensure there is no compression damage.

Edge protection – The sheets are specially prepared and manufactured with an additional layer of protective coating at the sheet edge.

Strengths

Increased Strength - The GCS system uses as a minimum grade of S700 steel and a minimum sheet thickness of 2.5mm. This is widely acknowledged to not only increase structural design, but also coating performance.
